Cango Caves

Almost 30 kilometres outside of Oudsthoorn in the Klein Karoo, and certainly one of the main
reasons for placing this little town on your itinerary, other than the prospect of riding an ostrich,
lay the Cango Caves, some of the biggest stalagmite formations in the world set in Precambrian
(a time about 4500 million years ago) limestone.

Cango Ostrich Show Farm is located in the lush Cango Valley, 14km outside of Oudsthoorn on
the main route towards the world famous Cango Caves, making it easy to find and making your
trip more time efficient.

morning you will go on a boat cruise on the lagoon. You will visit the Knysna head lookout point

Today after breakfast and check out you will depart for Knysna via Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve for a
visit to Birds of Eden & Monkey Land.

Tsitsikamma National Park

Tsitsikamma is a Khoisan word meaning, “place of much water”. The Park incorporates 80 km of rocky coastline with spectacular sea and landscapes, a remote mountainous region with secluded valleys covered in mountain Fynbos and temperate high forests with deep river gorges leading down to the sea.

At Tsitsikamma National park you will see the Big Tree, an eight hundred year old Yellowwood, in the heart of the forest among the dramatic river gorges in the lush green forest. The Tsitsikamma’ s spectacular scenery includes the Indian Ocean breakers, pounding rocky shores beneath 180 m high cliffs, ever-green forests and fynbos rolling down to the sea in a lush carpet where ancient rivers have carved their path to the ocean through rocky ravines. All this conspires to attract large numbers of international and local tourist to the Park.

Birds of Eden & Monkey land

Proceed to Monkey land and Birds of Eden. Monkey Land is the world’s first free roaming multi-specie primate sanctuary. The safaris in Monkey land are guided walking tours into the forest.

Birds of Eden, the largest single dome free-flight aviary in the world was built around a natural valley
right next door to Monkey land. An area covering almost 22,000 square meters, 70% of which is natural indigenous forest has now become home to around 3500 birds of some 200-different species. Visitors to Birds of Eden are welcome to explore the 2km of walkways at their own pace, experiencing the thrill of spotting the huge variety of birds which include several species of Parrot, Turacos, Toucans, Ibises, Flamingos, Hornbills, and so many more.

Besides the spectacular array of birds, the scenery alone warrants a visit with its beautiful forest, streams, dams and waterfalls together with a vast range of plants and flowers. You may also be lucky enough to spot Golden-handed Tamarins, tiny Blue duikers, Egyptian fruit bats or even the Eastern grey squirrels. After visiting the Birds of Eden return to the hotel.
